TENANT ADVISORY COUNCIL
ACOF’s Tenant Advisory Council (TAC), established in 2013, is a leading example of peer-led listening and engagement, with our approach being emulated by other Permanent Supportive Housing providers. The TAC meets monthly and continues to grow to best represent all tenants living in ACOF apartment communities. The Council’s achievements range from influencing housing policy and creating impactful community events to shaping ACOF’s program development and building designs.
Beyond ACOF, members share their unique lived experiences to provide insights on supportive housing and strategies to end homelessness, influencing both policymakers and the general public. The TAC organizes engaging events such as community gatherings and an art contest. Members contribute to design decisions and meet regularly with senior leadership to discuss and refine services programming.
The TAC is an impactful tenant-led initiative, where members showcase and enhance their skills through participation in conferences and training, including public speaking and trust-building. Every two years, the TAC develops and distributes the Tenant Survey to all households and reviews the results. When the survey found a resounding need for more storage in apartments, particularly in family buildings, ACOF responded by incorporating additional storage into the designs.
